The Model 990 vibration transmitter is primarily targeted at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors or fans who want to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as input to their mechanical control systems.
The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m system length options).

1.Centrifugal air compressors (integrated): This is the most common application scenario. Large industrial air compressor manufacturers (OEMs) embed this transmitter in compact bearing housings with extremely limited space to monitor radial shaft vibration.
2.Small industrial pumps and steam turbines: Deployed on multi-stage boiler feed pumps, small steam turbines, and cooling water pumps where traditional bulky monitoring racks are too costly.
3.High-speed motors and blowers: Used to monitor hydrodynamic bearings on high-speed auxiliary motors, where shaft displacement trends are critical for preventing catastrophic mechanical failures.
4.Real-time predictive maintenance surveys: Reliability engineers can use this transmitter as a diagnostic checkpoint using the coaxial PROX OUT port on the panel. They can walk to the junction box, plug in a portable data acquisition unit (such as a Bently Nevada SCOUT or Commtest analyzer), and capture raw dynamic trajectories and waveforms during machine operation.
5.High condensation/outdoor applications: Because the transmitter is completely encapsulated in epoxy resin, it is often used in unheated outdoor enclosures or high humidity cooling tower platforms, where standard electronic equipment is susceptible to moisture intrusion or trace chemical corrosion.
