Primary Applications
Features:
- SIMATIC S7-300, CP 341 Communications processor with RS422/485 interface
- FB length in RAM, max. 6 100 byte; Data communication, sending and receiving
- It is used for fast point-to-point serial data exchange between the S7-300 PLC and external devices such as printers, scanners, or third-party controllers
This module can independently handle communication tasks, reducing the CPU's communication load and allowing the controller to focus more resources on logic operations and process control. Its application scenarios typically include data interaction and information integration within industrial Ethernet, fieldbus, or other standard industrial communication networks.
At the system integration level, the 6ES7341-1CH02-0AE0 supports complex network topologies, enabling stable communication and data synchronization between multiple nodes. Its built-in diagnostic functions can monitor communication status, error frames, and connection quality in real time, thereby improving system transparency and maintenance efficiency.
The 6ES7341-1CH02-0AE0 Siemens Communications processor may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

When the CPU issues a communication request, the 6ES7341-1CH02-0AE0 takes over the tasks of packet packaging, protocol processing, and network transmission, completing data sending and receiving through internal buffers and protocol stacks. Simultaneously, this module continuously monitors the communication link status and feeds back diagnostic information to the main CPU, thus achieving an efficient, independent, and reliable industrial communication processing flow.
Modbus RTU Integration: One of its most common uses is as a Modbus master or slave, connecting the PLC to third-party devices such as frequency converters (VFDs), power meters, flow meters, and protective circuit breakers.
Peripheral Device Connection: Connecting the PLC to serial peripheral devices, including:
Barcode readers and scanners for tracking production.
Serial printers for automatic recording or labeling.
Third-party controllers (such as Cummins generator set controllers or Yokogawa DCS) for exchanging real-time process data.
Legacy System Bridging: Enables modern S7-300 systems to communicate with legacy devices using proprietary serial protocols such as 3964®, RK 512, or custom ASCII strings.
SCADA Interface: Facilitates data exchange between factory floor PLCs and advanced SCADA systems in data centers and telecommunications facilities.
