Two CPUs operate in parallel, continuously exchanging process data and system status via a high-speed synchronous link. If one CPU fails, the standby unit immediately takes over control without interrupting the process. This hot redundancy mechanism ensures deterministic control execution, continuous system operation, and maximum fault tolerance in mission-critical automation applications.
Critical Infrastructure Control: Used for systems where failure could result in significant economic losses or security risks, such as power plants and water treatment facilities.
Fail-Safe Automation (F/FH): Applied to safety-critical industries, such as the chemical and oil and gas industries, it manages standard automation and safety functions (SIL 3) within a single redundant system.
Large Process Industries: Ideal for complex control tasks in manufacturing and processing industries involving high-speed data processing and large memory requirements.
Transportation: Used for tunnel automation and traffic control systems to ensure high system uptime and public safety.
