Bus-master function: All AF 100 communication is driven by an active bus master. CI626A supplies this function as a stand-alone administrator, controlling network transmission while reception remains local to each communication interface.
Deployment rule: Use the module where the engineered AF 100 network has no other administration-capable device. Confirm station numbering and the complete bus-master plan before connecting the replacement.
CI626A uses redundant coaxial AF 100 connectors; CI627A uses twisted-pair screw connectors and is not a physical-medium equivalent. The network cable, connectors and termination must match the installed CI626A arrangement.
ABB lists full redundant-media support for PR:G through PR:J. PR:B through PR:F provide reduced redundant-media support on coaxial media only and require no more than four metres of cable-length difference between any two stations.
Before installation, record the active bus master, CI626A station details, PR revision, coaxial cable routing and connector positions. Replace the module under the site isolation procedure without changing the approved topology.
After power-up, verify that CI626A assumes or supervises the intended bus-master role and that all AF 100 stations communicate normally. Investigate cabling, revision compatibility and station configuration before altering the controller application.
