Features:
- DSTA 002B Connection Unit for Analog Input Board DSAI 133A
- It is purpose-built to pair directly with the DSAI 133A 16-Channel Analog Input Board
- It is widely integrated across legacy automation suites including Advant Master, MasterPiece 200, and MOD 300 DCS environments
The DSTA002B (order number: 3BSE018317R1) is a high-reliability analog input connection unit (analog connection unit) in ABB's MasterPiece series and Advant OCS control systems. This component primarily serves as the front-end terminal block for 16-channel analog input boards (such as the DSAI 133A) in the S100 I/O system. Its core function is to provide a standardized, industrial-grade hardwired physical interface, centrally receiving multiple 4-20mA, 0-20mA, or voltage-type analog signals from field-deployed pressure, flow, temperature, or level sensors, and securely transmitting these high-density process parameters to the DCS core control layer.
Furthermore, this connection unit integrates critical channel protection, signal distribution, and system high-availability protection functions. In complex, modern, large-scale automated environments such as chemical plants, paper mills, or power plants, the DSTA002B integrates high-quality signal distribution and passive conditioning circuitry, and is equipped with dedicated shunt resistors and high-specification fuses. This effectively prevents permanent physical damage to the expensive DSAI 133A core acquisition card caused by field cable short circuits, lightning surges, or grounding potential differences. Its modular, pluggable structure also ensures that maintenance personnel can quickly replace the back-end main control module without disassembling or interfering with the hardwired connections of field sensors, thereby significantly reducing equipment downtime.
The DSTA002B 3BSE018317R1 ABB Connection Unit may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The primary function of the DSTA 002B is as a physical connection point for field cabling, after which signals are routed to the active electronics processing board:
Target Matching Board: It is designed to work directly with the DSAI 133A (or DSAI 133) 16-channel analog input board.
Signal Mapping: It acquires up to 16 independent analog signals from the field and integrates them into a standardized multi-core flat cable connection that plugs into the front or back panel of the DSAI 133A module.
Supported Signal Types: It is compatible with standard industrial loop inputs, including 4–20 mA current loops, 0–10 Vdc, and ±10 Vdc differential signals.
Shunt Resistor Configuration: To handle 4–20 mA current loops, the DSTA 002B employs a precision internal shunt resistor (typically 250 ohms) to convert the input current loop into a voltage drop readable by the DSAI onboard A/D converter.
Terminal Reliability: It uses robust, industrial-grade screw terminals to clamp coarse-gauge factory wiring, absorb physical stress on cables, and ensure mechanical safety of connections within the cabinet.
Electrical Safety: It provides a concentrated path for shielded drain wires, helping to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) and field ground loops from interfering with low-voltage instrument data.
