Features:
- Analog I/O Extension
- general purpose analog and digital input/output extension
- All inputs and outputs are in the same potential and have a common isolation to control electronics
Its primary function is to provide a standardized fieldbus interface between the drive controller and upper-level automation systems, enabling real-time exchange of control commands, status feedback, and diagnostic data. By integrating the FIO-11, drive systems can seamlessly connect to distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or monitoring platforms.
In practical applications, the FIO-11 enhances system interoperability and network flexibility by supporting mature industrial communication protocols. It reduces the need for hardwired I/O and supports centralized monitoring and parameter configuration via fieldbus networks. This improves commissioning efficiency, simplifies maintenance processes, and supports scalable automation architectures in industries such as manufacturing, energy, and process control.
The FIO-11 ABB CAnalog I/O Extension may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The FIO-11 operates based on protocol conversion and structured data mapping between the drive's internal control bus and external fieldbus networks. The module receives control words and reference values from the automation controller, translates them into internal drive commands, and sends operational feedback (such as speed, torque, and status signals) back to the network. Through cyclic data exchange and diagnostic monitoring, FIO-11 ensures deterministic communication and reliable coordination between the drive system and the upper-level control infrastructure.
