The FS450R12KE3/AGDR71CS operates by using a gate signal provided by the drive controller to control the current flowing through its IGBT switches. When a gate voltage is applied, the IGBT allows current to flow from the collector to the emitter, thus powering the load. When the gate signal is removed, the current is rapidly interrupted. An integrated freewheeling diode provides a reverse current path during switching, enabling efficient pulse-width modulation (PWM) operation and precise voltage and current regulation in high-power converter systems.
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs): Used to control the speed and torque of heavy-duty induction motors (such as pumps, fans, and compressors) in water treatment and HVAC systems.
Renewable Energy Converters: Power conversion stages in wind turbines and large solar inverters for synchronizing DC power with the AC grid.
Heavy Industrial Machinery: Drive units for conveyor systems, cranes, and hoists integrated into mining and material handling environments.
Marine and Traction Propulsion: Auxiliary power converters for marine and electrified railway systems, suitable for applications requiring high current density and high reliability.
