- Binary control module/programmable control module
- GJR2390200R1411 (model: 83SR04A-E, some versions are 83SR04C-E) is the core programmable binary control module
- ABB Procontrol P13/P14 system (typically used for boiler protection, turbine control and DCS process automation in large thermal power plants)
ABB's GJR2390200R1411 83SR04A-E is a high-security binary general-purpose control module designed specifically for critical process industries. As the core logic execution unit of ABB's classic PROCONTROL P13/P14 distributed control system (DCS), this module is widely used in boiler protection systems, turbine protection, critical valve control, and high-security binary function group logic control in thermal power plants.
This control module offers significant advantages in safety protection and configuration flexibility, and is specifically optimized for the rapid response time and stringent interlocking logic of power plant auxiliary systems. It supports the execution of complex protection tasks via a stored program on a single hardware platform, and allows technicians to flexibly set variable program scan cycles through the first function block (e.g., TXT1). Up to four independent drive control or function group control loops can run simultaneously on a single card.
The GJR2390200R1411 83SR04A-E ABB Binary Control Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The core operating principle of the GJR2390200R1411 83SR04A-E lies in its highly secure hardware-level signal isolation and built-in closed-loop stored program interlocking operation. During system operation, signals from field limit switches, protective action physical contacts, etc., are sent to this module. Through internal hardware interfaces (such as a multi-input processing matrix) and optocouplers, strong and weak currents are completely electrically isolated, converted into digital logic states, and stored in the input mirror area.
The module's internal high-speed processor cyclically executes the pre-installed binary logic protection program at a set variable cycle, comprehensively comparing and analyzing the field feedback switching quantities and two auxiliary analog positioning signals. Once a safety interlock or operation command is triggered, the processor immediately drives the onboard thyristor/transistor output array through an amplifier circuit, precisely switching the 24V DC control circuit to drive the downstream solenoid valve or relay. Then, the diagnostic and operational data of each step are uploaded to the DCS host on the communication bus, thus realizing a two-level closed-loop hardware response from signal acquisition to safe execution.
There is a miniature status indicator light on the front of the circuit board. If the red indicator light "SG" or "DIAG" remains lit, it usually indicates a "module interruption".
Please prioritize checking the following: abnormal internal 5V logic power supply, EEPROM internal program checksum error, microprocessor deadlock, or channel damage caused by external high current.
