Features:
- Coupling Module/DCS Module Type
- Coupling Module primarily used in the ABB Procontrol P13/14
- Advant Controller series for distributed control systems (DCS)
The coupling module is primarily used in ABB Procontrol P13/Procontrol P14 and Advant Controller series distributed control systems (DCS). It acts as a communication bridge or interface (specifically a Nahbus coupling device) to enable data exchange between different parts of the industrial control network.
ABB Procontrol P13 and P14 are distributed control systems (DCS) designed for power plants and large industrial processes worldwide. Their core functions encompass turbine control, boiler automation, safety protection, and high-precision closed-loop logic management.
The GJR2363900R1000 88VT02A-E ABB Control Board Coupling Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

In terms of operating principle, they employ a highly distributed processing architecture, fundamentally eliminating the risk of single points of failure. This design ensures extremely high time determinism and synchronization of process data throughout the system, enabling complex control algorithms to run on distributed nodes with microsecond-level latency, thus guaranteeing the continuity and security of power production even in extreme industrial environments.
1. Rack Mounting: This module uses a standard plug-in design and must be inserted into a dedicated sub-rack within the Procontrol P13/P14 rack.
2. Insertion Guide: Use the guide rails on the top and bottom of the rack for positioning. Before insertion, check the backplane pins for bending or damage.
3. Tightening and Locking: After inserting the module, tighten the mounting screws on the front panel. This not only prevents physical loosening but also ensures good contact between the module and the rack grounding system.
4. HART Communication Integration: This module supports the digital HART protocol superimposed on a 4-20 mA analog signal.
5. System Bus Connection: This module automatically connects to the local bus via the backplane connector. Data is transmitted via the bus to the processing module (e.g., 88TK05) for closed-loop control or logic protection.
