Features:
- Used on DeviceNet or Serial Measurement Board (SMB) bus loops within robotic control cells
- It operates as a passive or buffered hardware junction box, providing integrated terminating resistor management
- It maintains the correct network bus topology without requiring changes to the digital MAC address or data protocol
The core function of this module is to efficiently distribute communication signals in industrial automation networks, enabling users to flexibly expand network nodes and ensuring that feedback signals from multiple joint motor axes, auxiliary axes, or external devices of the robot can be seamlessly and stably connected to the main control network.
This module also features excellent link integrity protection and industrial-grade anti-interference capabilities. Addressing the complex high-frequency electrical noise interference in multi-axis industrial robot environments, the 3HEA800906-001 employs optimized impedance matching circuitry and a dedicated RJ45 communication bus interface to minimize signal reflection and waveform distortion during multi-node data transmission.
The 3HEA800906-001 ABB Robotics Node Splitter may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Main Application Scenarios: Suitable for DeviceNet or Serial Measurement Board (SMB) bus loops within robot control units.
Functional Use: This node splitter allows access to the backbone link when the robot controller's main SMB port is occupied by the main robotic arm axis module (e.g., a DSQC board). This path extension can be used to connect external positioners, welding I/O peripherals, track motion controllers, or welding torch cleaners.
Signal Management: Operates as a passive or buffered hardware junction box, providing integrated terminating resistor management. It maintains the correct network bus topology without altering digital MAC addresses or data protocols.
The ABB 3HEA800906-001 employs a star/branch topology for signal splitting and electrical isolation, making it suitable for high-speed industrial communication buses. When the robot controller motherboard (central control module) or main control bus issues downlink control commands, or when the SMB feedback board uploads multi-axis position encoder data, a high-speed serial signal stream is input to the patch panel via the main interface.
Onboard dedicated splitting logic circuitry precisely routes and redistributes the power of high-speed digital pulses or serial differential signals according to the timing specifications of the network protocol, cloning or splitting them in parallel to each branch sub-node port while maintaining the characteristic impedance of the entire communication bus.
Through this delay-free physical layer splitting technology, the module achieves synchronous high-speed transmission and closed-loop response of multi-axis control data.
