3HNA003882-001/02 is a high-performance industrial robot spare part manufactured by ABB. Its official product model is VCDI-02, a valve island control board specifically designed for the ABB IRC5P painting robot control system. The core function of this control board is as a central communication and logic control bridge, responsible for the precise allocation and management of various pneumatic valves and solenoid valve components in the front-end process pneumatic circuit system of the painting robot.
In addition to its core pneumatic coordination function, this module also integrates high-standard status monitoring and safety protection mechanisms. It can collect real-time electrical signal feedback, air pressure fluctuations, and valve opening/closing status from each channel of the valve island, and quickly upload the data to the ABB robot's main control computer. If abnormal air pressure, short circuit, or valve jamming is detected during automatic spraying, the VCDI-02 control board will immediately trigger the safety protection program, cutting off the abnormal circuit or cutting off the air supply through the coordination system.
The 3HNA003882-001/02 ABB Paint Robot IRC5P Function Valve may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Multi-channel valve actuation: Serving as a bridge between the control cabinet and the robotic arm's front end (e.g., rotating cup, spray gun, and color-changing valve platform), it is specifically designed to output digital/analog signals to drive solenoid valves.
Process bus communication: Real-time communication with the main control board (e.g., the VCBI process board) via a backplane or dedicated bus ensures millisecond-level synchronization of spray flow, atomization and shaping air, and cleaning solvent switching.
Safety feedback protection: Built-in overcurrent and short-circuit protection, along with channel diagnostic logic, monitors the electrical status of the front-end solenoid valve coils in real time. In the event of a short circuit or open circuit, it immediately reports the corresponding process fault code to the IRC5P system.
Before replacing the VCDI-02 board in the paint shop, the main power supply to the control cabinet must be disconnected, and an anti-static wrist strap must be worn to prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging the onboard chips.
Coding and Jumpers: Carefully compare the DIP switch or jumper settings on the old board. The DIP switch settings on the new board must be exactly the same as those on the old board for installation; otherwise, the system may not be able to recognize the nodes.
