The Allen Bradley 1756-IF16 is an analog input module in the ControlLogix family, providing flexible electrical signal measurement connections. This module supports 16 single-ended inputs and can be configured with 8 differential inputs or 4 high-speed differential inputs to meet various measurement needs. In terms of current handling, this module can effectively record currents from 0 to 20 mA. The system consumes 150 mA at 5.1 V and 65 mA at 24 V. The total backplane power consumption is only 2.33 W, indicating extremely low operating power consumption.
This module features highly stable input impedance, with a voltage input impedance greater than 10 megohms and a current input impedance greater than 249 ohms, making it suitable for voltage-sensitive electronic applications. The isolation voltage rating indicates continuous operation up to 250 volts, but the isolation between the inputs is insufficient.

1.No loop power supply: The 1756-IF16 does not provide loop power. External transmitters require a separate 24V DC power supply to drive the current loop.
2.Hot-swap (RIUP): Supports hot-swap, allowing the operations team to replace damaged hardware cards while the rest of the PLC chassis remains fully powered.
3.Wiring system: Connects to field cables via separately ordered 36-pin removable terminal blocks (RTBs)—typically screw-clip 1756-TBCH or spring-clip 1756-TBSH.
The 1756-IF16 is currently in an active phase of its product lifecycle, meaning it will continue to be actively manufactured, distributed, and supported globally. However, if you are maintaining older equipment, please note that the earliest A-series version (1756-IF16/A) has reached the end of its product lifecycle and is discontinued. Modern replacements and currently available equipment feature upgraded B-series hardware configurations, offering improved internal components while maintaining full backward compatibility with Studio 5000 projects.
