Overview Manuals Principle Primary Applications

Features:

  • SMC-3 Smart Motor Controller
  • This motor controller has a line Voltage of 200-460VAC
  • This motor controller may be used with line-connected and Delta-connected motors
The 150-C30NBR is an SMC (Solid State Control) intelligent motor controller, belonging to the SMC-3 solid state motor controller series. The SMC-3 product series is part of a larger family of motor controllers, which also includes the SMC Flex and SMC 50 motor controllers. While the SMC-3 is designed for relatively simple soft-start needs, as a member of the SMC-3 series, the 150-C30NBR offers more comprehensive built-in functions than soft starters from other brands.

Specifically, the 150-C30NBR SMC-3 intelligent motor controller enables soft start, impact start, current limiting, coasting stop, and soft stop functions. These functions are sufficient to protect the motor from the destructive effects of mechanical stress caused by sudden starts and stops, and limit inrush current, thereby reducing energy consumption and improving control system efficiency.

The 150-C30NBR Allen Bradley SMC-3 Smart Motor Controller may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

It can be used with both linear and delta-connected motors. For linear-connected motors, the output current range is 10-30 amps, and the output power range is 3.0-20 horsepower (15kW); for delta-connected motors, the controller can provide 14.3-43 amps of current, 22 kW of output power, and 10-30 horsepower of output power.
This controller is widely used in industrial systems requiring "soft start" to protect equipment from "mechanical shock" or high starting torque:
  • Pumps and coolers: Reduce water hammer and surges in fluid systems during start-up and shutdown cycles.
  • Conveyors: Prevent belt slippage and pack tipping by gradually increasing belt speed.
  • Fans and compressors: Minimize belt wear and reduce peak kilovolt-ampere loads on electrical systems.
  • Agitators and crushers: Ideal for applications requiring "rapid start-up" to overcome initial friction during load startup.
