Features:
- Modular mechanical design using plug-in modules
- Partially-coated circuit boards - more robust in regard to environmental influences
- ACOPOS servo drive, 3x 400-480 V, 8.8 A, 4 kW, coated, integrated line filter, braking resistor and electronic safe restart interlock
The 8V1090.001-2 is a single-axis servo drive from B&R Automation's ACOPOS 1090 series. This drive is suitable for 400 to 480 V three-phase AC industrial power grids, has a rated continuous output current of 8.8 A, and an output power of 4 kW, making it one of the higher-power central control drives in the series. It is specifically designed for controlling high-performance synchronous servo motors and low-cost asynchronous induction motors.
As an industrial-grade product designed specifically for complex and demanding operating conditions, the suffix ".001-2" indicates that its internal circuit board is coated with a special anti-corrosion, moisture-proof, and insulating coating. This coating effectively resists corrosion from humid industrial environments, metal dust, and weak acid and alkali gases, ensuring the long-term stable operation of core electronic components. Simultaneously, the device integrates a high-density power line filter and a high-power braking resistor, which not only suppresses external electromagnetic interference at its source but also rapidly dissipates reverse energy during frequent motor deceleration or emergency stops.
The 8V1090.001-2 B&R High-performance single-axis servo drive may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

This drive features a modular mechanical design with four expansion slots on the front panel. Different function cards can be inserted to adapt to complex industrial environments:
Network Bus Slot: Typically used to insert an 8AC114.60-2 (POWERLINK) or 8AC110.60-3 (CAN bus) module for high-speed synchronous communication with B&R PLCs (such as the X20 system) or controllers.
Feedback Encoder Slot: Supports encoder cards, such as the 8AC120.60-1, for connecting EnDat, resolvers, or sine/cosine incremental encoders.
1.Form-Fill-Sea (FFS) Systems: Control the main side-sealing devices and high-speed film conveyors, requiring rapid acceleration/deceleration and high torque to maintain tight cycle times.
2.Rotary Cutters and Flying Knives: Drive heavy-duty cutting rollers that must be perfectly synchronized with the moving rolls of material to ensure precise cuts without disrupting the production line.
3.Labeling and Cartoning Applications: Drive main conveyor tracks and heavy-duty indexing tables to transport larger payloads under high-throughput conditions.
4.Multi-Axis Heavy-Duty Robots: Act as drive controllers for the spindles (axis 1, 2, or 3) of industrial articulated robots, managing the inertia of heavy payloads during rapid rotary motion.
5.Gantry Cranes and Pick-and-Place Platforms: Drive long-stroke gantry crane axes for transporting heavy sub-components on automotive or electronics production lines.
6.CNC Feeding Systems: Used to control servo-driven feeders in metal stamping or wood milling machinery, which require stable torque to overcome mechanical resistance.
7.Automotive body shop: Used for welding and riveting stations where metal dust and welding fumes are present. Coated circuit boards prevent short circuits caused by air pollutants.
8.Metal forming and bending: Drives precision bending machines, roll forming machines, or wire bending machines that require high continuous current (8.8 A) to shape elastic materials.
9.Textile and plastic extrusion: Controls tension winding machines and traction stations to maintain uniform product thickness and stretch in harsh, high-temperature factory environments.
