PLX31-EIP-MBS4 is a four-port ProSoft gateway that exchanges data between EtherNet/IP controllers and Modbus Serial equipment. Its documented host-side compatibility includes ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers.
Before replacement, confirm the controller project, serial mode, register map, port wiring, power source and firmware/configuration file. Do not infer the connected device count or controller compatibility from the gateway model alone. PLX31-EIP-MBS4 ProSoft EtherNet/IP to Modbus Serial Four-Port Gateway may remain available through Moore Automated beyond the manufacturer lifecycle; current OEM lifecycle status is not verified in the reviewed source.
The PLX31-EIP-MBS4 may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Important Notice: Confirm the complete catalog identity, hardware revision, receiving-system configuration and required document revision before replacement.
Confirm the configured controller family, connection type, RPI, message format and data sizes in the running project. The datasheet lists five Class 3 server connections and eight Class 1 I/O connections; actual topology remains project-dependent.
Configure each of the four ports for the connected device and documented RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 interface. Verify address, baud rate, parity, data size, stop bits, RTU or ASCII mode and register mapping before commissioning.
Verify the 24 V DC supply within the documented 10 to 36 V DC range, DIN-rail mounting, protective enclosure, serial isolation and grounding. Back up the gateway configuration and confirm data exchange on every used port before returning equipment to service.
