The ABB IMMFP12 is a high-performance standalone multifunction processor module (MFP) based on the ABB (Bailey Controls) INFI 90 OPEN control module series. As the core control unit of a distributed control system (DCS), this module features high speed and large-capacity storage capabilities, handling complex control applications and broadly supporting multi-loop analog control, sequential control, batch control, and advanced control strategies. It simultaneously meets data acquisition and information processing requirements, supporting process communication with up to 64 analog and digital I/O modules in any combination within a single mounting slot, providing a powerful point-to-point communication solution for complex industrial process control.
In terms of hardware configuration and maintenance design, the IMMFP12 employs a 32-bit high-speed microprocessor (operating at 16 MHz) and is equipped with 512 KB ROM, 512 KB RAM, and 256 KB NVRAM non-volatile configuration memory. This module boasts excellent field adaptability, providing two optional RS-232-C/RS-485 serial communication ports and supporting high-speed cross-network routing via dual-redundant network connections or specific communication protocols. Furthermore, it supports multiple mainstream industrial programming languages, including C, BASIC, BATCH, ladder logic, and a rich set of function codes. The module also features a built-in 1 Mbps redundant serial communication link, supporting 1:1 hot standby configuration between CPUs, enabling smooth and uninterrupted control handover in the event of a main processor failure.

The IMMFP12 is a legacy module using a 16 MHz processor. If you are managing applications using this hardware, there is a significant risk of obsolescence. Modern factories typically implement the following DCS migration paths:
Direct Upgrade Path: The logic in the IMMFP12 can be directly mapped to modern SPBRC300 or SPBRC400 controllers via ABB Composer software.
Performance Boost: Migrating IMMFP12 applications to BRC series processors can increase the clock frequency from 16 MHz to 160 MHz and increase the function block capacity to 32,000.

Back up the module configuration, verify station addressing and communication termination, isolate power, install in one MMU slot and confirm database checksum and network communication.
It is used in Bailey INFI 90/Harmony Rack nodes with the specified MMU and communication hardware. BRC300, BRC400 or BRC410 migration requires ABB engineering and database conversion.
