The Bently Nevada 330102-16-40-50-01-05 is an armored 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe used within a complete eddy-current proximity transducer system. The system consists of the 3300 XL 8 mm probe, compatible extension cable where applicable, and 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor. Its output voltage is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the conductive target, allowing the system to measure both static position and dynamic vibration on fluid-film bearing machinery. Keyphasor reference and speed measurement are also supported applications.
The probe incorporates Bently Nevada's TipLoc molding technology for a robust probe-tip-to-body bond and CableLoc design providing a specified 330 N (75 lbf) probe case-to-lead pull strength. The gold-plated ClickLoc connector uses a locking mechanism that helps prevent connector loosening, while the connector protector provides additional environmental protection. The standard probe is rated from -52°C to +177°C for operating and storage temperature.

For this 3/8-24 UNF standard forward-mounted probe, Bently Nevada specifies a maximum thread engagement of 0.563 in, a recommended torque of 11.2 N·m, and a maximum torque of 33.9 N·m. Exceeding the specified thread-engagement limit can cause binding during installation.
The probe is designed as part of a complete 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System. Bently Nevada states that 3300 XL 8 mm probes, extension cables and Proximitor Sensors are interchangeable within the XL system, eliminating the need to individually match or bench-calibrate components when used as a complete compatible system.
The standard probe operating and storage temperature range is -52°C to +177°C. The probe is designed to seal differential pressure between the probe tip and case using a Viton O-ring, but Bently Nevada notes that probes are not pressure-tested before shipment unless a specific test is requested.
