The IC200PBI001 is a GE Fanuc Emerson VersaMax Profibus-DP Network Interface Unit (NIU) designed to enable communication between a VersaMax I/O station and a Profibus-DP network. It acts as the communication gateway for distributed I/O systems, allowing seamless integration into industrial automation architectures.
The module supports automatic baud rate detection ranging from 9.6 Kbaud to 12 Mbaud, ensuring flexible and adaptive network communication. It can handle up to 375 bytes of total I/O data per cycle, with a maximum of 244 bytes for input and output data, along with additional diagnostic data including status/control and standard PROFIBUS diagnostic bytes.
The IC200PBI001 supports connection of up to eight I/O modules per station, making it suitable for compact distributed control applications. It is powered through the backplane, requiring 250 mA at 5 VDC and 10 mA at 3.3 VDC.
For communication, it uses a 9-pin D-sub connector compliant with Profibus-DP standards and operates on a shielded twisted-pair, linear bus topology. The network requires termination at both ends and supports optional stub connections depending on system design. Communication distance varies from 100 meters to 1200 meters, depending on the selected baud rate.
It should be noted that the IC200PBI001 does not support redundancy, making it suitable for standard (non-redundant) Profibus-DP applications in industrial automation systems.
