Features:
- Standard AC input power supply that accepts 100-120V AC (50/60Hz, rated input current of approximately 4A)
- It does not output the common 24V in industry, but instead outputs a precision low-voltage DC power of 5.1V
- The main purpose of this high-current, ultra-low-voltage design is to directly provide the core operating voltage for the high-density integrated circuits on the control rack backplane
The Yokogawa PW401 (including common models such as PW401 S2) is an indispensable AC input power module in the CENTUM CS 1000/CS 3000 distributed control system (DCS). Its main function is to efficiently convert external standard single-phase AC power (typically 100-120V) into the high-precision, low-ripple DC main operating voltage (typically 5.1V, with a maximum output current of up to 20A) required by the internal components of the system
In addition, this module features key protection functions for industrial-grade systems, including protection against grid fluctuations and hardware redundancy. Designed for demanding control environments such as power plants and refineries, the PW401 employs top-tier impedance compensation and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/RFI) suppression chips to maintain an absolutely constant output voltage even under harsh conditions such as instantaneous grid voltage drops, large voltage fluctuations, or strong electromagnetic pulse noise.
The PW401 YOKOGAWA Power Supply Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

1.CENTUM CS and CS 3000 Node Power Supply: This module is directly mounted on the backplane of the classic CENTUM control module, providing a stable 5.1V DC power supply to the internal processing unit.
2.Component Power Supply: Provides core logic operating voltage for high-power legacy components, including legacy central processing units (CPUs), advanced control modules, and communication bus controllers.
3.Hot Standby Power Sharing: Two PW401 modules are mounted side-by-side in a single node unit, actively sharing the system power load.
4.Fault-Tolerant Failover: When one module experiences a serious hardware failure or input power failure, the adjacent PW401 module seamlessly takes over 100% of the logic load, ensuring continuous operation of critical plant loops.
5.Emergency Warehouse Stockpiling: Plant maintenance engineers procure certified surplus or refurbished PW401 modules and store them in the automation spare parts inventory to ensure that operating control cabinets do not fail due to capacitor aging.
6.Transition to Migration: For factories that cannot afford the millions of dollars required for a DCS migration (such as upgrading to CENTUM VP) in the short term, these modules can safely extend the lifespan of their existing automation infrastructure by 5 to 10 years.
1.CE Mark: Complies with EU standards regarding the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC Directive) and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD Directive).
2.UL/CSA Certification: Passes North American standard safety tests by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association), demonstrating that its enclosure flame retardancy, insulation withstand voltage, and protection against electric shock comply with North American electrical regulations.
3.RoHS Compliance: Subsequent batches and refurbished parts comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS).
4.FM Certification (Factory Global)/CSA Non-combustible Material Certification: Meets North American Class I, Zone 2, Groups A, B, C, and D non-combustible explosion-proof standards, meaning that under normal operating conditions, small electrical sparks generated internally will not ignite surrounding explosive gas mixtures.
5.ATEX/IECEx (Optional/Subsequent System): Its rack design complies with European (ATEX) and international (IECEx) standards, suitable for Zone 2 hazardous areas.
6.ISA-S71.04 G3 Harsh Environment Corrosion Protection Standard: As a core power supply component of Yokogawa Electric's critical control cards, the power supply's circuit board is typically coated with a special anti-corrosion coating to resist corrosion from chemically corrosive gases such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide (compliant with G3 harsh environment standards).
7.IEC 60068 Vibration and Shock Standard: Complies with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) requirements for the resistance of industrial equipment to mechanical vibration and shock, preventing solder joint breakage or module loosening caused by vibration of large pumps or compressors in factory areas.
