The primary function of the Yokogawa PW404 S1 is to provide an extremely stable and clean DC power supply for the core components of a DCS system. As a power module specifically designed for critical control bus devices such as field control units (FCUs), FIO node units, and fiber optic ESB bus repeaters, it is specifically responsible for receiving the 24VDC power commonly found in industrial environments and converting it into a high-precision internal operating voltage to directly power the processor, I/O modules, and various communication interfaces.
Furthermore, this module boasts excellent resistance to environmental fluctuations and high availability protection. It allows input voltage fluctuations within a wide range of ±10%, perfectly resisting interference from power grid drops or harsh industrial electromagnetic environments, ensuring continuous power supply to core equipment on the production line. To meet the high standards required for uninterrupted production, the PW404 S1 natively supports dual redundancy configurations. With hot-swappable technology, it allows for online replacement of individual modules without affecting the production process, thereby minimizing the risk of system downtime due to power outages.

The Yokogawa PW404 S1 filters a nominal 24V DC input and uses high-frequency DC-DC switching technology to regulate it into stable 5.1V DC and 24V DC rails for rack cards. Internal auctioneering diodes allow parallel hot-standby redundancy for instantaneous, bumpless load-transfer during a failure, while an integrated S9504VK fuse provides immediate overcurrent protection.
