The ABB BRC410 (also commonly referred to as the full-size SPBRC410) is a high-performance, high-capacity rack-mount bus bridge controller designed for the process industry. It is the core hardware of the ABB Symphony Plus automation control system's HR series. Adhering to ABB's "Continuous Evolution, Never Outdated" asset protection philosophy, this controller employs a fully backward-compatible hardware and software architecture.
The core technological breakthrough of the ABB BRC410 lies in its integrated 100 Mbps high-speed Ethernet physical interface, fully supporting the industry-standard Modbus TCP communication protocol. Through this interface, the BRC410 can act as a smart gateway, directly establishing high-throughput, low-latency real-time bidirectional communication with third-party PLC systems, intelligent electronic devices (IEDs, such as intelligent transmitters, actuators, motor control centers, etc.), and ABB's own 800xA control system.
In terms of physical security and subsystem compatibility, the ABB BRC410 offers exceptional industrial operational flexibility, fully supporting a 1:1 hardware dual-machine hot standby redundancy configuration, enabling seamless, two-stage, and smooth switching in the event of a failure. It not only has 2 MB of user-configurable non-volatile memory (NVRAM), but also has powerful hybrid control capabilities, which can manage and schedule multiple subsystems simultaneously, including HR series rack I/O, SD series rail I/O and S800 remote I/O.
