Features:
- 14 independently isolated analog output channels
- Native support for 4 to 20 mA current loops and 1 to 5 VDC voltage ranges
- Features built-in channel-to-channel galvanic isolation to protect internal rack logic lines against field side voltage surges or ground loop interference
The ABB SPASO11 is a high-performance, high-density isolated analog output (AO) module designed by ABB specifically for Symphony Plus (S+ HR) and Harmony rack control systems. Equipped with 14 high-density analog output channels, this module primarily serves as a critical interface between distributed control systems (DCS) and industrial field devices. It outputs high-precision analog control signals, enabling continuous and precise regulation and control of field devices such as actuators, control valves, regulators, and drives.
The SPASO11 offers excellent industry-standard compatibility in terms of functional adaptability and system integration. It fully supports standard 4-20 mA current signals and 1-5 V voltage signals at the channel level, allowing users to flexibly configure these signals in the system software according to the needs of different actuators. Furthermore, the module features robust channel electrical isolation and comprehensive intelligent diagnostic mechanisms, including hardware-level reverse polarity protection and output short-circuit protection. This effectively prevents electromagnetic interference or surges on the field side from affecting the internal logic network, thereby ensuring long-term stability and high availability of system control in complex process automation environments.
The SPASO11 ABB Analog Output Slave Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The working principle of this model is as follows: the module receives digital control commands and process preset values from the main controller in real time via the I/O expansion bus of the control rack. The microprocessor inside the module decodes and performs logic verification on these digital signals, and then sends them to the onboard multi-channel digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to accurately convert the digital logic signals into proportional weak voltage signals. Finally, through the internal signal conditioning and power drive circuit (including V/I converter), the signal is modulated into a standard 4-20 mA current or 1-5 V voltage signal, and output to the external actuator through the field terminal unit, thereby driving the opening or speed of the field equipment to achieve closed-loop control.
SPASO11 is widely used in continuous production industries where even a one-minute unexpected downtime can result in losses of thousands of dollars:
Coal Power Plants: Heavy-duty regulating control valves controlling main steam conditioning, boiler feed pumps, cooling water flow, and fuel supply actuators.
Water and Wastewater Treatment: Managing proportioning metering pumps for chemical injection, regulating electric gate valves, and controlling the speed of large aeration blowers.
Chemical and Petrochemical Industries: Regulating feed valves, controlling distillation column reflux valves, and maintaining pressure in critical storage tanks.
Pulp and Paper Mills: Regulating feed flow valves, steam dryer pressure, and continuous chemical bleaching feed.
