The ABB SPDSI22 is a high-performance, general-purpose digital input module suitable for Siemens/ABB and other manufacturers' Symphony Plus and Harmony Rack (S+ HR) series control systems. Featuring 16 independent digital input channels, this module serves as a critical interface for process control. It introduces various binary process status signals from industrial applications (such as the status of switches, relays, and limit switches) into the control system, enabling real-time monitoring of large-scale automated processes.
In terms of functional adaptability, the SPDSI22 offers exceptional channel configuration flexibility, with 32 built-in jumpers allowing users to independently configure the input type for each channel. It supports multiple input voltage types, including 24VDC, 48VDC, 125VDC, and 120VAC, as well as dry and wet contact inputs. The module is fully backward compatible with the existing INFI 90 enterprise strategic management system, and each channel is equipped with an independent LED status indicator for easy maintenance and troubleshooting.

This module does not operate autonomously. It collects field status data (e.g., motor operation feedback, valve position, limit switch closure status) and continuously pushes data packets via a high-speed modular I/O expansion bus. The centralized master Harmony processor (e.g., BRC300 or BRC400) then reads this data to drive the plant's automation logic.
The operating principle of this model is as follows: Digital AC or DC voltage signals generated by external field sensors are input to the terminal component module, and then hardware-conditioned and stepped down through a matching measurement circuit selected by 32 internal jumpers. The conditioned signal passes through a high-isolation optocoupler (to achieve electrical isolation and interference protection between the high-voltage signal from the field and the internal logic circuit). Next, the internal microprocessor performs digital filtering, debouncing, and logic state analysis on the binary data. Finally, the updated field process status data is transmitted to the main controller at high speed in real time via the Harmony Rack's I/O expansion bus.
