Features:
- Legacy industrial Power Measurement/Measuring Unit
- ABB’s high-power Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and large-scale industrial motion control systems
- It monitors and measures key raw power metrics such as bus voltage, phase current, and continuous load curves to protect upstream power electronic equipment from severe electrical faults
As a key actuator in ABB's Distributed Control System (DCS) or industrial robot motion control network, this module is primarily responsible for receiving high-speed control commands from the central processing unit (CPU) and seamlessly converting them into stable and reliable hardware-level outputs. The module employs a high-standard industrial-grade anti-interference design and is equipped with multiple independent output channels, enabling it to safely drive various external actuators, such as industrial relays, solenoid valves, contactors, and field indicator lights.
In terms of system integration and field support, the YPG111A demonstrates excellent compatibility, high-speed dynamic response, and comprehensive diagnostic mechanisms. This module can be seamlessly integrated into ABB's proprietary high-speed communication backplane network, supporting deterministic periodic data refresh, effectively eliminating delays and jitter in digital signal transmission, and ensuring high-precision periodic control on the production line.
The YPG111A ABB Power Measuring Unit may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Please note that the YPG111A board should not be confused with other ABB “YP” driver peripheral cards of the same specifications, as these cards have completely different functions:
YPC111A: Used as a dedicated output distributor/signal termination module;
YPQ111A: Strictly used as a general-purpose system I/O expansion board.
The ABB YPG111A employs data demodulation, optical isolation, and power drive loops within an industrial system bus. During system operation, the main CPU's control program periodically generates output image data and transmits it to various modules via the rack backplane bus in high-speed serial or parallel frames.
Upon receiving a data frame belonging to its own address, the YPG111A's internal bus communication control chip decodes it and maps it to the corresponding chip select control level. These low-voltage digital levels then undergo secondary photoelectric conversion via an internal high-speed optocoupler.
This achieves 100% electrical isolation between the high-power loads in the field and the core microprocessor circuitry, while simultaneously driving the power MOSFETs or Darlington transistors at the drive terminals to turn on or off, ultimately controlling the switching state of the external 24V industrial circuitry, thus completing precise closed-loop control from logic instructions to physical mechanical actions.
