Features:
- Populated with 16 independent channels dedicated entirely to binary/digital outputs
- Each individual channel is designed to output a nominal voltage of 24 V DC with a maximum driving current capability of 100 mA
- Purpose-built to switch low-power inductive and resistive field elements directly, such as signaling lamps, auxiliary control relays, electronic control inputs, and low-current solenoid valves
ABB's GJR2392500R1210 81AB03C-E is a high-performance binary output module designed for high-reliability industrial control systems. As a key hardware component of ABB's early classic large-scale distributed control systems (DCS) or programmable controller series, this module is primarily responsible for outputting precise switching control signals to downstream actuators. It features 16 independent output channels, each supporting a standard 24V DC input and capable of providing up to 100mA of drive current.
Designed with exceptional industrial-grade durability and high availability at its core, this module can withstand harsh workshop environments including high vibration, electromagnetic interference, and extreme temperatures. Its standard industrial card-type modular structure significantly simplifies the installation of guide rails within the control cabinet and hardware replacement, while also offering excellent backward compatibility, seamlessly replacing earlier models in the same series (such as the 81AB01 or 81AB10 series).
The GJR2392500R1210 81AB03C-E ABB Digital output module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Module Code Mapping: The base card series is 81AB03.
Suffix Differences: Suffix differences in product lists from different manufacturers (e.g., 81AB03C-E, 81AB03D-E, or 81AB03E-E) indicate minor hardware version updates, partial firmware updates, or component changes during the system's long production cycle.
Ordering Code Continuity: Regardless of version number C, D, or E, all versions use the same factory-grade product ordering code: GJR2392500R1210. These are generally interchangeable in field panels, provided the backplane firmware is compatible.
The core working principle of the GJR2392500R1210 81AB03C-E is to convert complex bus logic commands into safe field physical switch operations.
During system operation, the upper-level main controller (CPU) periodically sends highly integrated digital control words to this module via the system board bus. Upon receiving the data, the module's internal protocol processing chip uses a built-in optocoupler to convert the weak logic digital signal into a logic level, simultaneously completely severing the physical connection between the internal bus and the external 24V high-voltage circuit.
This logic level directly drives the onboard solid-state switching transistors (or micro-electronic switch arrays) to turn on or off, thereby determining whether the corresponding channel has a 24V DC voltage output. Downstream relay coils or solenoid valves achieve mechanical action through this high-frequency, precise closed-loop control switch, ultimately controlling field process piping or mechanical structures.
