The 990 Vibration Transmitter is intended primarily for the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as the input to their machinery control system. The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m system length options).
The transmitter conditions the signal into appropriate peakto-peak vibration amplitude engineering units, and provides this value as a proportional 4 to 20 mA industry-standard signal as the input to the control system where machinery protection alarming and logic occurs.
The 990-04-70-01-05 Bently Nevada 990 Vibration Transmitter may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Industrial Fans and Blowers: Monitors radial shaft deflection caused by dust buildup, blade imbalance, or structural aerodynamic resonance.
Large Motor Bearings: Detects early signs of internal mechanical wear, rotor imbalance, or misalignment in high-power induction motors.
Centrifugal Pumps: Tracks fluid instability, impeller imbalance, or abnormal oil swirl within fluid transfer pumps or cooling water pumps.
Applications: Integrators of small centrifugal air compressors, industrial refrigeration units, or process gas screw compressors can install the Model 990 transmitter in the machine's local junction box.
Benefits: Due to its standard 4-20 mA loop signal output, OEMs can connect it directly to the machine's local PLC or HMI, providing end customers with a fully monitored, self-protected skid-mounted device.
Applications: This transmitter can be directly connected to standard analog input cards in factory DCS (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV) or industrial PLCs (e.g., Siemens S7-1500, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix).
Advantages: Trend analysis, emergency alarms, and plant safety trip interlocks can all be implemented through standard automated programming modules, fully utilizing the 0-4 mil measurement range.
Offshore Platforms and Vessels: Suitable for continuous monitoring of machinery in harsh salt spray environments, compliant with ABS Marine regulations.
Upstream Oil & Gas/Chemical Plants: Can be installed in Category I Zone 2 or ATEX Zone 0 environments (with safety barriers required) to monitor pumps transporting volatile gases; high-voltage or arc-generating equipment is prohibited in these environments.
Applications: Reliability engineers route 4-20 mA signals to the plant loop for trend analysis while connecting portable analyzers (e.g., Bently Nevada SCOUT or Emerson CSI) to the physical PROX OUT coaxial port.
Advantages: Plant maintenance teams can perform complex dynamic diagnostics, such as analyzing trajectory plots, time-synchronized averages, and frequency spectrum (FFT), without interfering with safety circuits or shutting down machines.
