Product Information:

The Triconex 4210 is a dedicated Master Remote Expansion Module (RXM) kit designed for Tricon Triple Module Redundancy (TMR) safety systems. This kit contains three matching modules that maintain a fault-tolerant 2003 (3-out-of-3) architecture and can be used as high-speed fiber optic bridges to connect the main Tricon controller chassis to remote distributed I/O expansion racks.

Information

Overview Manuals Operating Principle (TMR Expansion) Safety Rating

Features:

  • Remote Extender Modules
  • Primary SRXM - Single-Mode Fiber Optic Remote Extender Module
  • It is primarily used to overcome the distance limitations of standard racks
RXMs and chassis allow I/O modules to be located several kilometers from the main chassis. RXM sets, consisting of three identical modules, serve as repeaters and extenders of the Tricon I/O bus and provide ground loop isolation. A primary RXM set supports three remote locations by connecting to three remote RXM sets housed in a remote chassis.

RXM sets are available for fiber-optic cables with a communication rate of 375 kilobits per second. These sets provide maximum immunity against electro-static and electro-magnetic interference, and support configurations with optical modems and fiberoptic point-to-point cabling.

The 4210 Invensys Triconex Remote Extender Modules may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Invensys Triconex 4210 Remote Extender Modules MANUAL(Datasheets), Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
The 4210 module group is installed in the main rack or main expansion rack, close to the main processor (MP) (must be within 30 meters of the main central rack). It acts as a "fiber optic repeater" for the three-channel backplane bus, synchronizing backplane signals to the remote RXM rack in real time while maintaining complete electrical isolation (eliminating ground loop interference).
As part of the Tricon core ecosystem, its hardware architecture fully complies with the IEC 61508 SIL 3 safety rating standard, making it suitable for demanding industrial explosion-proof/high-requirement environments such as oil and gas, high-risk chemical plants, thermal power plants, and rail transportation.

Ask our team:

  • What are the key fault-tolerant control and safe execution capabilities that TRICONEX 4210 provides in a safety instrumented system (SIS) architecture?
TRICONEX 4210 is a high-integrity control module designed for performing safety-critical logic, fault-tolerant handling, and deterministic control operations within a SIS.
  • How does TRICONEX 4210 maintain fault-tolerant and deterministic execution under mission-critical process conditions?
4210 utilizes a triple modular redundancy (TMR) architecture to ensure continuous operation, fault masking, and deterministic control execution even in the event of hardware failure.
  • Why is TRICONEX 4210 considered an indispensable component of SIS compliance and risk mitigation frameworks?
TRICONEX 4210 supports high-integrity safety logic execution, conforms to SIL-level architectures, and ensures controlled downtime, risk mitigation, and process safety assurance.
  • How does TRICONEX 4210 enhance operational availability in safety-critical process automation environments?
4210 provides redundant processing paths and fault-tolerant logic execution, minimizing system downtime and maintaining uninterrupted safety monitoring.
  • Which types of industrial systems most commonly integrate the TRICONEX 4210 safety control module?
TRICONEX 4210 is widely used in oil and gas facilities, petrochemical plants, power generation systems, and other high-risk industrial process environments requiring compliance with safety regulations.
