Features:
- Remote Extender Modules
- Primary SRXM - Single-Mode Fiber Optic Remote Extender Module
- It is primarily used to overcome the distance limitations of standard racks
RXMs and chassis allow I/O modules to be located several kilometers from the main chassis. RXM sets, consisting of three identical modules, serve as repeaters and extenders of the Tricon I/O bus and provide ground loop isolation. A primary RXM set supports three remote locations by connecting to three remote RXM sets housed in a remote chassis.
RXM sets are available for fiber-optic cables with a communication rate of 375 kilobits per second. These sets provide maximum immunity against electro-static and electro-magnetic interference, and support configurations with optical modems and fiberoptic point-to-point cabling.
The 4210 Invensys Triconex Remote Extender Modules may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 4210 module group is installed in the main rack or main expansion rack, close to the main processor (MP) (must be within 30 meters of the main central rack). It acts as a "fiber optic repeater" for the three-channel backplane bus, synchronizing backplane signals to the remote RXM rack in real time while maintaining complete electrical isolation (eliminating ground loop interference).
As part of the Tricon core ecosystem, its hardware architecture fully complies with the IEC 61508 SIL 3 safety rating standard, making it suitable for demanding industrial explosion-proof/high-requirement environments such as oil and gas, high-risk chemical plants, thermal power plants, and rail transportation.
