Features:
- Terminal block with XLPEJ cable (3636TN)
- External terminal block with XLPEJ interface cable
- It is a key structural component that ensures the high availability of Triconex Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
This component serves as the physical wiring interface for the relay output module within the system architecture. Its primary function is to provide electrical isolation and reliable signal distribution between high-power loads or external actuators (such as solenoid valves, contactors, and control circuits) in the field and the core logic module of the underlying safety system.
In practical applications and protection, this terminal block employs a non-commoned independent circuit design. This means that each output channel is electrically isolated from each other, effectively preventing single-circuit grounding faults or short circuits from causing electrical cascading effects on the entire system.
The 9668-110NJ Invensys Triconex Terminal Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 9668-110NJ terminal block serves as a signal conversion terminal for "digital logic to physical drive". When the output modules of the upper-level Tricon system output logic control signals through the internal Tri-Module Redundancy (TMR) voting mechanism, the control signals are transmitted at high speed to the rear interface of the terminal block via a dedicated XLPEJ cable. Inside the terminal block, these logic levels directly drive the corresponding miniature safety isolation relay contacts to close or open; power from an external field power supply (which can provide voltages up to 30VDC) flows through the onboard fuse and output terminals, ultimately driving the field load. In the event of an external circuit break or a severe short circuit exceeding the 1A limit, the local independent fuse will immediately blow, physically disconnecting the circuit.
This control panel is specifically designed for environments with extremely high reliability requirements, where poorly managed system failures could lead to environmental or physical hazards:
- Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems: Managing critical output trip valves on petrochemical production lines.
- Fire and Gas (F&G) Systems: Deploying audible and visual alarm loops in industrial facilities.
- Nuclear Power Plant Operations: Providing safety-grade instrument interlocks within containment infrastructure.
