Configuration Profile (HW Config / STEP 7)
Features:
- SIMATIC ET 200SP HA Distributed I/O system
- 16 channels, isolated in groups
- Advanced per-channel diagnostics (wire break, short-circuit to ground, supply voltage missing)
The Siemens 6DL1131-6BH00-0EH1 is a high-density digital input module for the SIMATIC ET 200SP HA system. It features 16 24V DC channels, supports H1 or M1 type terminals and CC01 coding. As a high-availability component, it supports channel-level diagnostics, circuit breaker detection, and hot-swapping.
Furthermore, it integrates seamlessly with PCS 7/PCS neo systems and STEP 7, primarily for acquiring binary signals from field sensors. The module operates by processing field input signals, achieving electrical isolation via optocouplers, converting the data into digital logic signals, and transmitting them in real-time to the main control CPU via the backplane bus.
The 6DL1131-6BH00-0EH1 Siemens Digital input module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Unlike the standard ET 200SP series, the HA (High Availability) version includes dedicated hardware and firmware features tailored for critical infrastructure:
I/O Redundancy: Two identical modules can be configured as a redundant pair and connected to dedicated terminal blocks, ensuring uninterrupted process operation even if one module fails.
Runtime Configuration (CiR): Supports parameter reassignment during system runtime. You can modify input delays or diagnostic parameters while the system is running on the production line without removing the rack or stopping the CPU.
Value Status (QI): Each channel transmits a quality information bit along with the binary input status. If a disconnection is detected, the Qi bit becomes false, instructing the PLC logic (or safety block) to ignore invalid data.
When adding this module to the ET 200SP HA Interface Module (IM) in the hardware configuration tree:
Address space allocation: No SoE (standard): Input value occupies 2 bytes + QI value status occupies 2 bytes + PROFINET status occupies 1 byte.
With SoE enabled (1 ms timestamp): Input occupies 2 bytes + timestamp data buffer occupies 18 bytes + QI occupies 2 bytes.
Input delay parameter: The input filter is adjusted via software (typically adjustable between 0.05 ms and 20 ms) to filter out mechanical contact bounce from field switches.
