- This controller supports two Ethernet channels and can communicate via CEX bus and module bus architectures
The ABB PM865K02 (3BSE031150R1) is a redundant processor unit for AC 800M controller platforms. ABB states that the package contains two PM865K01 processor units, a TK850 CEX bus extension cable, and a TK851 RCU-Link cable, making it a hardware package designed specifically for redundant processor configurations, rather than a single, standalone CPU. The PM865 processor uses an MPC862P processor operating at 96 MHz and provides 32 MB of RAM, of which 22.184 MB is available for application use. ABB also explicitly states that the processor supports CPU redundancy and defines the PM865 as a high-integrity controller.
From a system integration perspective, the PM865K02 is designed for AC 800M architectures requiring redundant processing and associated controller communication infrastructure. According to ABB's official datasheet, this product supports two Ethernet channels, with Ethernet conforming to the IEEE 802.3 standard and a transmission rate of 10 Mbit/s, using an RJ-45 interface; the CEX bus can connect up to 12 communication modules; and up to 7 fiber optic I/O clusters can be connected, employing a redundant CPU configuration.
The ABB PM865K02 3BSE031150R1 AC 800M processor unit is supported by Moore Automated for verified industrial replacement and spare-part requirements.

The official package of the PM865K02 includes two PM865K01 processor units, one TK850 CEX bus extension cable, and one TK851 RCU connection cable. This package definition should be considered when replacing an existing PM865K02, as the PM865K01 is a single-processor package with ABB product number 3BSE031151R1.
The PM865 provides two Ethernet channels. The official datasheet clearly states that its Ethernet interface conforms to the IEEE 802.3 standard, operates at a speed of 10 Mbit/s, and uses an 8-pin RJ-45 female connector. The AC 800M control network supports MMS (Manufacturing Information Service) and IAC (Inter-Application Communication) protocols.
When planning a project, the application capacity of the controllers should be evaluated in conjunction with the actual AC 800M configuration: ABB specifies a maximum of 32 controllers per control project, a maximum of 1024 applications per control project, a maximum of 32 applications per controller, a maximum of 64 programs per application, and a maximum of 32 tasks per controller. The specified cycle time can be as low as 1 millisecond, while ABB specifies a cycle time of 10 milliseconds for high-integrity controllers.
