The IC694ALG223 is a 16-channel analog current input module used in GE RX3i PLC systems. It provides 16 single-ended input channels, which can be individually configured through software for multiple current measurement ranges, including 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and 4–20 mA Enhanced mode. Each channel is designed to accept industrial standard current loop signals, making the IC694ALG223 suitable for process control and industrial signal acquisition applications.
The IC694ALG223 supports advanced diagnostic and alarm functions across all input ranges. In particular, the 4–20 mA Enhanced mode enables low alarm detection down to 0 mA, allowing the module to identify open-wire conditions in current loop systems. It also provides high and low alarm limits for each channel, improving fault detection and process monitoring capability. The module reports both module status and external power supply status back to the CPU via assigned program reference addresses.
From an electrical and performance perspective, the IC694ALG223 consumes 120 mA from the 5 V DC backplane power supply and requires an additional 65 mA plus loop current from an external +24 V DC power source. It offers a resolution of 4 µA per bit at 4–20 mA range and uses a scaled digital representation where full-scale conversion corresponds to 32000 counts. The module also features strong noise rejection with cross-channel rejection greater than 80 dB (DC to 1 kHz) and an input impedance of 250 ohms, ensuring stable measurement performance in industrial environments.
