It is a redundant CPU module, built on a 600 MHz Pentium-M processor architecture and equipped with 64 MB of user memory. This controller is intended for real-time control of machines, processes, and material handling systems, operating as the central processing unit within a VME64-based rack system.


In terms of system architecture, the IC698CRE030 operates on a VME64 backplane, which provides significantly higher bandwidth compared to earlier VME-based systems, including the Series 90-70 platform. This enables faster I/O throughput and efficient communication with rack-mounted modules, including both RX7i and compatible Series 90-70 I/O modules.
