Features:
- SINAMICS G120 POWER MODULE PM240-2 WITH BUILT IN CL
- 3-Phase AC 380 V to 480 V (+10% / -20%) at 47 to 63 Hz line frequency
- 90 kW (125 hp) continuous output. Supports transient spikes up to 150% for 3 seconds
The core function of the 6SL3210-1PE31-8AL0 is to provide powerful power conversion and highly reliable frequency conversion output to meet the needs of various industrial loads. It features dual load capacity: in low overload (LO) operating mode, the basic output power is 90kW (suitable for square wave torque loads such as fans and pumps); in high overload (HO) dynamic control mode, the output power is 75kW (suitable for high-energy, frequently starting constant torque loads such as conveyors and cranes).
In addition to its powerful power output, this module integrates critical electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) filtering and braking control functions. It employs a Class A industrial-grade EMC filter, which significantly reduces electromagnetic interference generated during inverter operation, ensuring the equipment meets stringent industrial noise control standards.
The 6SL3210-1PE31-8AL0 Siemens Power Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

To build a fully functional operating unit using this power base, it must be used with Siemens SINAMICS standard modular components:
Control Unit (CU): Compatible options include the CU240E-2 series for standard applications or the CU250S-2 series for precision vector positioning.
Operating Panel: Commissioning requires either the Intelligent Operating Panel (IOP-2) or the Basic Operating Panel (BOP-2).
The 6SL3210-1PE31-8AL0 inverter employs a typical "AC-DC-AC" inverter topology. First, the 380V-480V three-phase AC power from the grid is rectified into DC power by the module's internal uncontrolled or semi-controlled three-phase rectifier bridge, and then smoothed and filtered by the DC bus capacitor to store energy.
Subsequently, driven by a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) high-frequency control signal provided by the matched G120 control unit, the high-performance insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) module on the inverter side alternately turns on and off at a specific frequency, thereby inverting the DC power into three-phase AC power with adjustable voltage and frequency, and outputting it to the motor to achieve smooth and precise control of motor speed and torque.
When the motor decelerates and brakes, the energy provided by the generator status feedback pushes up the DC bus voltage. At this time, the built-in braking chopper automatically starts according to the voltage threshold, directing excess energy to the braking resistor to maintain the power balance and safe operation of the entire power system.
Due to its robust design, built-in braking chopper, and integrated Class A EMC filter, this power module is widely used in the following core areas:
Pumping, Ventilation, and Compression: Widely used in municipal water treatment plants, industrial HVAC cooling towers, and large air compressor stations.
Material Handling and Conveying: Powers large-capacity belt conveyors, roller systems, baggage handling lines, and chain conveyor systems in mining, logistics, and automotive assembly plants.
Processing Industrial Machinery: Used in mixers, agitators, centrifuges, extruders, and grinders in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries.
Basic Lifting and Elevating: When used with an external braking resistor, it enables energy recovery to drive industrial cranes, gantry systems, and hoists.
