Features:
- SIMADYN D ITDC expansion module
- For 6-pulse drive converters
- Gating unit (for max. 400 Hz output frequency)
Its main functions include executing real-time control logic, managing system-level data exchange, and ensuring synchronized operation between controllers, I/O subsystems, and the monitoring platform. Through deterministic processing of automation tasks, the 6DD1601-0AH0 supports stable, precise, and efficient control of complex industrial processes.
It can seamlessly integrate with system backplanes and distributed automation components, allowing for flexible expansion of control functions without affecting existing configurations. Its diagnostic and monitoring functions improve fault visibility, enhance maintenance efficiency, and help reduce downtime in continuous process industries such as power generation, petrochemicals, and heavy manufacturing.
The 6DD1601-0AH0 Siemens ITDC expansion module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 6DD1601-0AH0 operates based on a cyclic deterministic execution model. This module continuously acquires input signals from field devices via the system communication backplane, processes these signals using embedded control algorithms and configuration parameters, and then generates corresponding output commands to send to actuators and connected subsystems. This structured input-processing-output loop ensures real-time response, precise timing control, and reliable synchronization of the entire automation system.
SITOR Interface Expansion: This module serves as the interface between the SIMAN D processor module (e.g., PM4, PM5, or PM6) and the SITOR line-commutated thyristor converter.
High-Power DC Drive Control: The ITDC module is used in systems requiring precise control of the thyristor bridge firing angle. This is common in high-power industrial DC motor drive systems such as those in steel rolling mills, mine hoists, and paper machines.
Excitation System: This module is often used to control the excitation current of large synchronous motors and generators, ensuring stable power output and reactive power compensation.
Complex Converter Topologies: This module allows a single processor to manage multiple converter bridges, making it suitable for 12-pulse or multi-parallel converter configurations, thereby reducing grid harmonic distortion.
