NETA-01 is an ABB ethernet adapter module for abb drives used with the documented ACS 800 platform. Selection must match the complete product identity, hardware execution, connected assemblies and approved system configuration.
Before replacing NETA-01, compare the supplied nameplate, revision, connectors or terminals and installed position with the original equipment record. After installation, review diagnostics and complete the approved functional checks before service.
NETA-01 is an ABB ethernet adapter module for abb drives selected by its complete product identity and documented equipment role. Its suitability depends on the installed ACS 800 system, hardware execution, interfaces and application requirements matching the supplied unit. Visual similarity or a shortened code is not proof of interchangeability.
Before replacing NETA-01, record the full nameplate, installed position, connector or terminal arrangement, paired equipment and relevant ABB service information. After installation, verify power, communication and control interfaces, complete the approved functional checks and confirm stable operation before returning the equipment to service.
ABB NETA-01 documentation and reference links.
Important Notice: Every linked document must identify the listed model or its documented family. Confirm the complete order code, hardware revision and installed-system requirements before replacement.
ABB specifies an RJ-45 Ethernet interface for IEEE 802.3/802.3u devices using 10BASE-TX or 100BASE-TX, with 10/100 Mbps transfer and a maximum 100 m Ethernet segment. The manual recommends CAT 5 FTP or STP cabling for the Ethernet link. It documents HTTP, FTP, Telnet, Modbus TCP, SMTP and DDCS over Ethernet services; the relevant service and access permissions must be enabled and secured for the installed software version.
The drive-side DDCS connection is fibre optic, point-to-point and asynchronous half duplex at 4 Mbit/s. ABB specifies a two-station link with up to 10 m between stations and blue receiver / grey transmitter connectors. Multiple-drive configurations require the documented NDBU-85/95 branching unit or ring topology. Check channel numbering and all fibre connections against the drive manual before commissioning.
NETA-01 mounts on a standard rail and can be installed inside or outside a drive enclosure depending on the drive configuration. ABB requires the mounting rail to be correctly earthed. The module uses a 24 V DC auxiliary supply; verify polarity, source capacity, protection and the actual terminal arrangement from the manual and cabinet drawings. Switch off hazardous voltages and follow the drive-specific discharge and electrical safety instructions before work.
The module can use a drive tool channel for monitoring/debugging or a fieldbus control channel where the drive and application support it. Software version, drive parameterization, DDCS address, IP/DIP-switch settings, connected drive count, network policy and intended control authority must be checked and backed up before replacement. Do not infer that every listed drive supports every NETA feature or that field control is enabled by the adapter alone.
ABB gives NETA-01 enclosure dimensions of 93 × 35 × 76.5 mm (H × W × D), degree of protection IP20, and rail mounting. The specified current consumption is 80 mA at 24 V DC ±10%. Ethernet uses an internally terminated RJ-45 connector; the drive link uses separate fibre-optic transmitter and receiver connectors.
The manual lists operating ambient temperature 0 to +50 °C, installation temperature −20 to +70 °C and DDCS-link storage temperature −55 to +85 °C. Appendix B separately gives packaged storage/transport conditions of −40 to +70 °C; these categories are not interchangeable. ABB does not state a component mass in the reviewed manual, and component dimensions do not establish packed shipping dimensions or gross shipping weight.
NETA-01 provides RJ-45 Ethernet for IEEE 802.3/802.3u devices at 10/100 Mbps, with a maximum 100 m segment. ABB recommends CAT 5 FTP or STP. The documented services include HTTP, FTP, Telnet, Modbus TCP, SMTP and DDCS over Ethernet; restrict access to the services required by the approved network design.
The drive-side DDCS link uses fibre optics, point-to-point asynchronous half duplex at 4 Mbit/s, and is specified for two stations with up to 10 m between them. For multiple drives, follow the ABB NDBU-85/95 or ring topology instructions, including unique node addresses and transmitter/receiver orientation.
ABB specifies 24 V DC auxiliary power and 80 mA consumption at 24 V DC ±10%. The module is rail-mounted and its RJ-45 Ethernet and fibre-optic connectors must remain accessible. The official compatibility list includes ACS800, ACS 600, ACX 400, DCS 800, DCS 600, ACS 6000, ACS 1000 and ACS 5000; particular drive applications may not support all module functions.
Before work, back up drive and module configuration, identify tool channel versus fieldbus control channel, record software/image versions, DDCS node IDs and IP settings, and check the installed topology. Follow the drive's safety and discharge procedure; control commands must only be enabled through the approved drive design.
