Version Replacement Notice (R1313 vs. R1510/R1550)
Features:
- For short-distance, local direct connection. Primarily connects to local laptops, portable diagnostic devices, or proximity printers
- Procontrol P14 Communication Modules
- Utilizes differential balanced twisted-pair transmission for medium- to long-distance, high-interference-resistance communication, enabling secure signal transmission to remote operator stations in the central control room
ABB's GJR2368900R1313 87TS01K-E is a high-performance bus-coupled interface module designed for process control in large power plants and heavy industries. As the core backbone communication unit of ABB's classic PROCONTROL P14 (and Advant OCS) distributed control system (DCS), it establishes a high-bandwidth, cross-system "data bridge" connection between the lower-level control network and the upper-level information management system.
The hardware architecture and protection standards of this communication module are designed for extremely stringent industrial-grade continuous and stable operation requirements, and can fully withstand high-intensity electromagnetic interference, harmonic interference, and the high-temperature environment of power generation workshops. It not only supports dual 24V DC hardware-level redundant power inputs, ensuring uninterrupted communication even in the event of a single power supply failure, but also possesses excellent cross-network segment global monitoring and management capabilities.
The GJR2368900R1313 87TS01K-E ABB Communication coupling module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The core operating principle of the GJR2368900R1313 87TS01K-E lies in its high-speed bidirectional data path hard isolation mechanism based on protocol conversion. During system operation, one end of the module periodically listens to, captures, and parses high-speed serial network data in time-division multiplexing (TDM) within the DCS via a dedicated rack-mount bus. A dedicated microprocessor inside the module unpacks the received network data packets and performs CRC checks.
Then, through an onboard optocoupler, the module achieves complete electrical isolation between strong and weak currents, losslessly converting the data into a standard serial stream, and pushing it to the host diagnostic equipment via an RS232c/RS422 interface.
Similarly, when an external control station issues programming, modification, or configuration commands, the module reverses the above process, re-encapsulating the data packets and recalculating the parity bits, then securely sending them to the PROCONTROL station-level bus. This achieves both robust grid security isolation and fully closed-loop distributed communication interaction.
In actual procurement and maintenance, suppliers or stockholders often provide circuit boards similar to GJR2368900R1510 or R1550. Although they are all named 87TS01K-E, in older turbo control systems (such as DEH systems), different hardware suffixes may represent different crystal oscillator frequencies, internal firmware versions, or communication baud rate limits. If the replacement circuit board suffix is not exactly the same, it is recommended to first verify the system channel configuration data backup provided by the original manufacturer.
