The Allen-Bradley 1794-OM8 is a 1794 FLEX digital AC output module. It is installed inside the terminal bus for connecting field devices and the I/O bus. Because this I/O module requires no direct wiring, it can be plugged and unplugged while the system is powered on. This saves time and avoids efficiency losses due to system restarts.

The 1794-OM8 module has 8 output ports. This module features a snap-on mounting system for DIN rail installation. It offers various communication options, including ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and universal remote I/O.

The 1794-OM8 Allen Bradley Flex I/O Digital Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Allen Bradley 1794-OM8 Flex I/O Digital Output Module manual(Datasheets), Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
Each channel of the 1794-OM8 module is equipped with 16 yellow LED status indicators to display the corresponding input device and output signal.
A standard XT module version is also available for extreme environments, reducing panel and maintenance costs. Its operating temperature range is 0 – 55 °C (32 – 131 °F), and relative humidity range is 5 – 95% (non-condensing).
  • AC Load Control: Used for direct switching of industrial actuators operating on 220–240V AC power, typically eliminating the need for intermediate relays.
  • Distributed I/O Systems: Serves as a remote control node within the FLEX I/O component, allowing output control to be placed closer to the machine, reducing cabling complexity.
  • High-Voltage Discrete Signals: Ideal for managing field devices such as alarms, indicator lights, and heavy-duty contactors in protected cabinet environments.
  • Maintenance Optimization: Supports Live Removal and Plug-in (RIUP), allowing modules to be hot-swapped without interrupting field cabling or shutting down the rest of the system.

Ask our team:

  • How does the 1794-OM8 ensure signal accuracy and deterministic analog performance across multiple channels?
The 1794-OM8 integrates high-resolution digital-to-analog conversion and a single-channel calibration mechanism to minimize quantization errors and output drift. Even in industrial environments with high electrical noise, this architecture ensures repeatable signal fidelity and stable process control.
  • Why is the channel density of the 1794-OM8 advantageous for large-scale process applications?
The 1794-OM8 integrates eight independent analog output channels in a compact FLEX I/O package, enabling higher I/O density and reducing panel footprint. This integration reduces wiring complexity, installation costs, and simplifies system expansion strategies.
  • What output signal ranges can the 1794-OM8 generate? Why is this flexibility so important?
The 1794-OM8 supports voltage and current output ranges, typically including 0–10 V and 4–20 mA. This dual-range capability enables interoperability with a wide range of industrial instruments, ensuring compatibility in a heterogeneous control ecosystem.
  • How does the 1794-OM8 contribute to system diagnostics and predictive maintenance strategies?
The 1794-OM8 provides channel-level status monitoring and fault diagnosis capabilities, detecting open circuits, under-range or over-range conditions, and module health anomalies. These diagnostic functions facilitate proactive maintenance, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve operational reliability.
  • What configuration methods are typically used to commission the 1794-OM8?
The 1794-OM8 is configured through controller engineering software, where users can define channel scaling, output range, and fail-safe states. This parameterization ensures that the analog outputs are precisely matched to process control requirements and safety protocols.
