The X20SI9100 is a digital safety input module in B&R's X20 series, designed to meet high safety levels such as SIL 3 or PLe. Its primary function is to safely acquire sensor signals, such as emergency stop buttons, safety door switches, or light curtain signals.
The module employs a dual-channel processing architecture, enabling real-time monitoring of the input channel status and ensuring the system immediately switches to a preset safety state upon detecting external circuit faults (e.g., short circuits or open circuits) or internal component failures.
The X20SI9100 B&R Digital Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The module supports B&R's openSAFETY protocol for secure data transmission via standard Ethernet (POWERLINK). It offers high flexibility and diagnostic capabilities, allowing users to configure parameters such as input filtering time and test pulses via software to eliminate false triggering caused by interference. Its compact, modular design allows for seamless integration into standard X20 control systems, significantly reducing wiring complexity and greatly improving the operational safety of the entire industrial automation production line.
Emergency Stop System: Can be directly connected to dual-channel sensors, such as emergency stop buttons and safety switches.
- Personnel Protection: Can be used with safety light curtains, laser scanners, and OSSD (Output Signal Switching Device) signals.
-
- Machine Protection: Monitors safety doors and gates with configurable filters to smooth test gaps and prevent accidental cut-offs.
-
- Distributed Safety: Suitable for large machines requiring rapid response times and distributed safety solutions without stopping the entire production process.
