- 330171 3300 5mm Probe, 1/4-28 UNF thread, without armor
When used with the 3300 XL proximity sensor and XL extension cable, this system provides an output voltage proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the conductive surface being measured. The system can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) data.
Its primary applications include vibration and position measurement in hydrodynamic bearing machinery, as well as adhesion phasor and velocity measurement. The system provides accurate and stable signal output over a wide temperature range.
The 330171-00-20-10-02-05 Bently Nevada 3300 5mm Proximity Probes may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 3300 5 mm probe is an improvement on the previous design. The patented TipLoc molding process achieves a stronger bond between the probe tip and the probe body. The 3300 5 mm system can be equipped with Fluidloc cables to prevent oil and other liquids from leaking from the cable inside into the machine. All 3300 XL proximity sensor systems achieve this performance level, and the probe, extension cable, and proximity sensor are fully interchangeable, requiring no matching or bench calibration of individual components.
This probe is primarily used in industrial environments where space is limited and standard 8 mm probes are not feasible.
Vibration Measurement: Captures dynamic radial vibrations of shafts in hydrodynamic bearing machinery such as turbines, compressors, and pumps.
Position Measurement: Monitors static axial (thrust) position to detect rotor motions that could damage the machine.
Velocity and Phase Reference: Used as a Keyphasor® sensor, it provides phase reference and velocity measurements for diagnostic analysis.
Small Target Sensing: Ideal for measuring radial vibrations of shafts as small as 51 mm (2 inches) in diameter or the axial position of planar targets smaller than 15 mm (0.6 inches).
