Information

Overview Manuals Principle

Features:

  • Enhanced communication module
  • Modbus Master/Slave Enhanced Network Interface Module
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix series communication module
It is an enhanced network interface module that can support both master and slave communication. The MVI56E-MCM enhanced network interface module functions as the interface between a ControlLogix processor and various Modbus devices. It can be installed in a local or remote rack. The MVI56E-MCM enhanced network interface module supports a wide operating temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and a wide storage temperature range of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.

The MVI56E-MCM module supports master and/or slave connections between ControlLogix processors and Modbus RTU/ASCII devices. This module is backward compatible with older MVI56 modules, meaning users can directly replace older modules without modifying their existing controller software. The MVI56E-MCM module boasts a 10,000-word database, enabling it to collect more data from other devices and thus improve performance.

The MVI56E-MCM PROSOFT Enhanced communication module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
PROSOFT MVI56E-MCM Enhanced communication module Manuals(Datasheets), Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
This feature of the MVI56E-MCM module also allows users to fully utilize its enhanced functionality and flexibility without incurring costly reprogramming. By acting as an input/output module on the ControlLogix backplane, the MVI56E-MCM module presents Modbus data to the processor as I/O data. Furthermore, it features cross-detection capabilities.

Ask our team:

  • What communication paradigm does MVI56E-MCM implement to interface Rockwell ControlLogix processors with Modbus networks?
The MVI56E-MCM is a high-integration communication module engineered to provide both Modbus Master and Slave protocol support, enabling seamless integration between a ControlLogix processor and Modbus RTU/ASCII devices by presenting Modbus process data as I/O accessible to the controller.
  • How does MVI56E-MCM manage dual independent serial port configurations for multi-network operation?
The MVI56E-MCM supports two independently configurable serial ports, each of which can be operated in either Master or Slave mode and assigned to the same or different Modbus networks, enabling concurrent bidirectional communication with multiple Modbus devices.
  • Why is backward compatibility significant for MVI56E-MCM in legacy and upgrade automation environments?
The MVI56E-MCM maintains backward compatibility with legacy MVI56 modules, allowing direct replacement within existing ControlLogix applications without the need to modify configured controller logic or redevelop control strategies.
  • What data scaling and register mapping capabilities are available in MVI56E-MCM for comprehensive Modbus data integration?
The MVI56E-MCM accommodates up to 10,000 16-bit registers in its internal database, providing extensive data mapping capabilities to transfer large sets of process data between Modbus networks and the ControlLogix processor with high fidelity.
  • How does MVI56E-MCM ensure ease of configuration and integration within RSLogix/Studio 5000 projects?
The MVI56E-MCM uses an Add-On Instruction (AOI) that embeds configuration parameters directly within the controller project (ACD file), eliminating the requirement for external software tools and significantly reducing development time and effort.
