Features:
- Communications support module CS7
- 3 plug-in recptacle for communication modules (X01 to X03)
- Dual port RAM with 16 Kbytes per communications module
Each plug-in slot (H10/H11, H20/H21, H30/H31) is equipped with two diagnostic LEDs to display the status of the communication module; the meaning of the LEDs depends on the specific communication module. Sending the L bus basic sampling time to the communication module (for synchronization); this function is not applicable to SS4, SS5, and SS52 communication modules.
Sending a clock interrupt signal from the communication module to CS7 to set the CPU module's real-time clock; this function is not applicable to SS4, SS5, and SS52 communication modules. The communication module can generate an interrupt signal on the L bus. However, it must be ensured that only one interface module performs this function (configured). This function is not applicable to SS4, SS5, and SS52 communication modules.
The 6DD1662-0AB0 Siemens Communication carrier module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 6DD1662-0AB0 operates based on a deterministic cyclic execution model within a distributed automation framework. This module continuously acquires process-related input data via the system backplane and integrated communication paths, ensuring synchronized data acquisition with connected field and control devices. Subsequently, embedded control logic and system-defined parameters process this input data, performing real-time calculations and decisions according to predefined automation strategies.
Modular Communication Center: Serving as a baseboard (carrier), it can accommodate up to three communication sub-modules. This allows a single rack slot to simultaneously support multiple different industrial protocols.
Protocol Integration: Depending on the installed sub-modules, the CS7 enables the SIMADYN D system to connect to various networks, including PROFIBUS DP, Ethernet, or other proprietary industrial interfaces.
External System Gateway: It connects the high-performance SIMADYN D control loop to higher-level HMI systems, SCADA networks, or other PLC systems (such as SIMATIC S7).
Data Exchange Management: This module manages the data flow between sub-modules and the SIMADYN D system bus (C-bus/L-bus), ensuring reliable and predictable data flow for time-critical automation tasks.
