It features a 5.7-inch TFT color widescreen display supporting up to 65,536 colors and a pixel resolution of 320x240. Its core function is to provide field operators with an intuitive digital control terminal. The MP 177 series multifunction control panel is powerful and supports communication with Siemens PLCs (S7-200, S7-300, S7-400) and third-party controllers:
One Industrial Ethernet port (RJ45): for PROFINET connectivity and TCP/IP network integration.
One RS-422/RS-485 Type-D port: supports MPI (Multipoint Interface) and PROFIBUS DP protocols, with a maximum transmission speed of 12 Mbit/s.
One USB port: for connecting peripheral devices such as USB flash drives, keyboards, or barcode scanners.
It is primarily programmed and configured using WinCC flexible 2008 Compact (or later), but can also be migrated to the newer TIA Portal (WinCC Comfort) software suite. It supports data storage retention, ensuring that critical operation logs and recipes are preserved after a power outage and restart.
