- Features 8 digital inputs (24V DC)
- Complies with high-demand safety standards up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508) and PL e (ISO 13849-1)
The 6ES7136-6BA00-0CA0 is a fail-safe digital input module (F-DI 8x24VDC HF) for the Siemens SIMATIC ET 200SP distributed I/O system. It features eight safety channels designed for acquiring various safety signals in industrial environments, such as emergency stop buttons, safety door locks, light curtains, or two-hand control panels. This compact module supports advanced safety standards up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508) or PL e (ISO 13849-1) and is a core component for building industrial safety automation loops.
Functionally, the module not only accurately reads 24V DC signals but also integrates eight independently configurable sensor power outputs, supporting short-circuit monitoring and cross-loop detection. It boasts robust diagnostic capabilities, providing real-time feedback on channel status, open circuits, or external voltage errors via LEDs and the backplane bus. Furthermore, this module supports in-run configuration modification (CiR) and complies with multiple international maritime and explosion-proof certifications, enabling it to adapt to various harsh industrial operating environments.
The 6ES7136-6BA00-0CA0 Siemens Electronics module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

It employs two independent internal microprocessors to evaluate input signals in parallel and utilizes the PROFIsafe protocol to ensure data integrity during transmission. The module detects short circuits, open circuits, or crosstalk in external lines in real time through periodic pulse tests. Upon detecting signal discrepancies or hardware faults, it immediately enters a preset safe state (typically signal zeroing), triggering an emergency stop or controlled system shutdown to ensure that equipment and personnel safety meets SIL 3 or PLe standards.
This module is typically deployed in situations where personnel safety or critical process protection is paramount:
1. Emergency Stop (E-Stop) Circuit: Monitors emergency stop buttons on production units or assembly lines to ensure immediate and safe shutdown in abnormal situations.
2. Machine Protection: Verifies the status of safety interlock gates, doors, or spindle guards. Ensures high-speed machinery operates only when guards are safely closed.
3. Safety Light Curtain: Processes signals from gratings and photoelectric sensors to detect unauthorized entry into hazardous areas.
4. Conveyor Monitoring: Reads belt misalignment sensors, pull cord switches, and zero-speed detectors. Its integrated 800 mA encoder power supply can directly power these proximity sensors.
5. Process Safety: In industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and oil and gas, it monitors the position of safety interlocks and valves handling hazardous materials.
