CC-GAIX21 is a Honeywell Series C non-redundant GI/IS analog input IOTA, identified as 51306309-175 in the manufacturer board drawing. The 6-inch assembly supports up to 16 current-input channels through eight dual-channel MTL4544 isolators. It provides field termination and isolator integration, while the compatible IOM performs analog input processing and determines whether the complete signal path supports HART.
The Honeywell CC-GAIX21 is the non-redundant, high-density GI/IS analog input termination assembly in the Series C family. Its exact row in the manufacturer's hardware matrix specifies a 6-inch board, sixteen channels and eight MTL4544 isolators. The board illustration identifies the assembly as 51306309-175 and shows the IOM location, isolator positions and separate feed fuses. These are terminal-assembly characteristics; converter resolution, input filtering and scan timing must be taken from the selected IOM rather than attributed to the IOTA itself.
For an installed loop, the transmitter connects through the specified galvanic isolator before its signal reaches the analog input electronics. The MTL4544 supplies two input paths, and Honeywell illustrates two- and three-wire transmitter connections for its channels. HART communication also requires compatible HART electronics and a suitable field device, not simply an isolator marked for HART. Before installing a spare, verify the full board identity, individual channel assignments, power connections and approved hazardous-area wiring. The non-redundant board does not gain redundant IOM capability by using a similar-looking module or by copying configuration from a redundant IOTA.
Eight MTL4544 isolators provide the sixteen field-input paths. Each isolator serves two channels, so the relationship between a field circuit, an isolator position and the configured IOM channel must be preserved during maintenance. Honeywell lists MTL4599 for unused isolator positions. Do not import the single-channel MTL4541 or temperature-converter MTL4575 options from the larger CC-GAIX11 arrangement into this board's compatibility list.
Honeywell illustrates two- and three-wire transmitter configurations for the MTL4544 channels on CC-GAIX21. Use the appropriate drawing for the actual transmitter supply and return arrangement, and keep shield-grounding requirements separate from signal wiring. A transmitter's current range alone does not establish intrinsic-safety compatibility; the field device, isolator, cable parameters and approved installation must be assessed together.
The supported MTL4544 is a dual-channel 4–20 mA isolator with HART capability. Honeywell's IOM compatibility table lists CC-PAIH02 for HART and CC-PAIX02 for non-HART input arrangements. Select the complete supported combination for the required communication function. An MTL4544 on the terminal board does not convert a non-HART IOM into a HART input module.
CC-GAIX21 has a single, non-redundant IOM arrangement and a nominal 6-inch board length. CC-GAIX11 uses a different, 12-inch redundant arrangement, even though both can serve sixteen current-input channels with MTL4544 isolators. Before a replacement is selected, check the actual mounting space, board number, IOM generation, isolator allocation and field-wire identification. Shared channel count or similar product lettering is not sufficient evidence of mechanical, electrical or configuration interchangeability between the two assemblies.
For CC-GAIX21, Honeywell lists one 0.5 A fast-acting 250 V fuse, part 51190582-150, at F1 for the IOM feed. A separate 1.5 A fast-acting 250 V fuse, part 51190582-215, is used at F2 for the isolator feed. These designators differ from the redundant board's arrangement. A qualified maintenance check should follow the correct feed and investigate the fault before replacing a fuse. The fuse's 250 V rating is not the terminal assembly's operating voltage or permission to apply that voltage to its supply.
