Interconnection Protocol
Main Features
Features:
- Expander Interface Adaptor Module – 4 Way
- Draws 24 Vdc directly through its primary backplane connection pins
- Provides connectivity between the expander interface module in the controller chassis and the processor interface module in the expander chassis
The expander interface adapter provides the connection between the expander interface modules in the controller chassis and processor interface modules in expander chassis.
With the controller chassis dip switches set to ID#1, the first seven expander chassis would have their dip switch ID #s set from 2 to 8. Another interface adapter would be used to connect to the next seven chassis. Those chassis also need their dip switch ID #s set from 2 to 8, although they would be designated 9 to 15 in the software configuration (.ini file) described in Section 8.
The T8312-4C ICS Triplex Expander Interface Adaptor Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

These four physical ports use a dedicated TC-302-0X multi-core communication cable. The cable's 12-core round locking plug securely locks into the T8312-4C port, transmitting Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) signals to a remote chassis processor or T8314 fiber optic transceiver for long-distance electrical isolation.
The T8312-4C is a version designed specifically for small to medium-sized Trusted systems, supporting up to four expander chassis. The suffix "C" also indicates that it comes with a conformal coating, providing excellent resistance to harsh industrial environments.
