Key Applications
Features:
- Houses 40 isolated hardware channels dedicated to digital output/sourcing operations
- Organized cleanly into 5 separate power groups, with each group managing exactly 8 distinct channels
- Fault-tolerant (HIFT) circuit routing is implemented using fully triple-backup internal hardware
Its core function is as an OEM-certified replacement consumable, enabling maintenance personnel to quickly replace blown onboard fuses in the FTA after a field overcurrent or short circuit, thereby restoring the signal loop to the affected channel and ensuring the system I/O interfaces remain protected and operational.
By equipping the plant with the
T8902 spare parts package, the plant can minimize the mean time to repair (MTTR) for single points of failure and maintain the SIL3 operating level of the entire safety instrumented system.
The T8902 ICS Triplex Digital output module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

As part of a high availability strategy, the T8902 ensures the integrity of field signal conditioning circuitry. In input fault switching analyzers (FTAs) such as the T8800, the 50mA fuses not only provide overcurrent protection but also typically function as current-limiting elements in the signal loop, preventing high-energy field-side faults from entering and damaging downstream T8403 input modules.
Because the T8902 can safely power high-power loads in high-risk circuits, it can be directly integrated into heavy machinery automation systems:
Emergency Valve Actuation (VFTA Linkage): Provides highly reliable power to emergency isolation valves, blowout preventers, and safety shutdown valves in chemical plants for valve opening or closing.
Heavy-Duty Solenoid Valve Actuation Circuits: Safely controls large physical actuators, fire sprinkler systems, and pneumatic control relays.
Plant-wide Visual and Auditory Alarms: Drives high-current hazard alarms, strobe alarm networks, and critical local trip indicators.
