The ICS Triplex T9191 (now a Rockwell Automation product) is a highly reliable programmable logic controller (PLC/DCS) module, a key hardware component designed for high-safety, high-availability critical control systems such as the Trusted or AADvance series. Functionally, it forms the core physical and electrical framework of an industrial safety instrumented system (SIS), housing and connecting advanced processor modules as well as various digital or analog I/O modules.
The T9191 offers a standardized I/O bus interface, and its modular design allows users to quickly expand laterally to up to 24 module slots via dedicated expansion cables, easily managing hundreds or thousands of field monitoring points. More importantly, the component fully supports hot-swapping; in industrial environments requiring uninterrupted operation, such as oil and gas, chemical, and power industries, operators can directly replace faulty redundant modules online while the system is powered on, achieving true "zero downtime" maintenance, ensuring production continuity and minimizing downtime losses.
The T9191 ICS triplex Blanking Cover Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Physical Protection: Designed to cover unused I/O module slots on the AADvance backplane, with an IP20 protection rating.
Environmental Isolation: Effectively prevents dust, moisture, and foreign matter from entering, avoiding contamination or damage to sensitive electronic components inside the backplane.
Flame Retardant Safety: The housing is made of flame-retardant materials compliant with UL 94 V-0 standards, ensuring fire safety in extreme industrial environments.
Airflow and Dust Protection: Must be installed in an unused I/O slot. Its primary function is to maintain cooling airflow pressure within the rack and provide IP protection against dust and foreign objects.
Electrostatic Discharge Warning: This component contains electrostatic sensitive elements internally and at the interface. Do not touch exposed connector pins directly with your hands during installation.
The ICS Triplex T9191 employs an industry-leading Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture and "2oo3" voting logic. Its physical chassis integrates three completely independent control buses. When sensor signals from external field devices are received via the I/O modules, these signals are synchronously replicated and distributed to three independent microprocessors on the chassis.
These three processors perform parallel computations for the same safety application in a fully synchronous manner. When a control command is required (e.g., emergency valve closure), the core voting chip within the chassis dynamically compares the computation results of the three channels at high speed: only when the output data of at least two channels are completely identical is the result used as the final valid execution command.
If a channel experiences data deviation due to component failure, the system not only maintains output accuracy and prevents errors from propagating through "multiple voting" of the other two healthy channels, but also automatically resynchronizes the faulty channel through an internal offline calibration mechanism, achieving seamless hardware-level fault-tolerant control.
