The ICS Triplex T9401 is a high-performance industrial-grade digital input module in Rockwell Automation's ICS Triplex AADvance controller family. It is designed for high-integrity, high-safety industrial automation systems, such as emergency stop (ESD) systems and fire and gas monitoring (F&G) systems. Its core function is to reliably and safely acquire discrete switch signals (such as emergency stop buttons, limit switches, pressure switches, or level switches) from the production site and convert these physical signals into digital data that the controller can recognize.
The T9401 features high-integrity signal processing and fault diagnosis capabilities. It can monitor the channel status and line integrity of input signals in real time, automatically detecting field circuit faults such as open circuits and short circuits. Furthermore, the module employs a high electrical isolation design between channels, effectively preventing strong electrical interference, power grid surges, or industrial field noise from intruding into the controller's core bus, thereby ensuring the data accuracy and operational continuity of the entire distributed control system (DCS) or safety instrumented system (SIS).

This module plugs into a standard T9300 I/O backplane and routes signals via designated termination components.
1.Channel Capacity: Depending on your specific security architecture configuration, this module can manage 8 or 16 isolated digital input channels.
2.Configurable Integrity Modes: This module can operate in different system topologies depending on the Security Integrity Level (SIL) required by the application:
Simple Mode: Single-module configuration, suitable for non-secure or low-integrity fault-protected channels.
Duplex/TMR Mode: Utilizes paired (duplex) or triple-module deployment (triple-module redundancy/TMR), employing matched T9802 or T9803 termination components to implement voting mechanisms and full fault tolerance.
Visual Indicators (Front Panel LEDs)
The T9401 module uses standard AADvance status indicators to assist in hardware diagnostics:
Health Status: Solid green indicates the internal microprocessor is operating normally; flashing red or solid red indicates an internal hardware component failure.
Ready Status: This indicator lights up when the module has received valid configuration information from the secure host processor and is scanning fields.
Operating Status: Solid green indicates the channel registers are processing data exchange on the central backplane.
