Structural Safety & System Integration
Principle
Features:
- It supports a single (non-redundant) operating module configuration, where all channels share a common return ground path, thereby simplifying the field cabinet cabling layout
- 24 VDC nominal, featuring a functional backplane input range from 18 VDC to 32 VDC
- Rated for low thermal generation at 3.6 W (12.3 BTU/hr)
The T9881 precisely routes and distributes digital control commands from the AADvance core processing unit to analog control devices on the factory floor. It provides eight physical output channels, supporting standard voltage or current signal outputs for adjusting speed setpoints of proportional control valves, servo valves, electro-hydraulic regulators, or frequency converters. Serving as a connection hub between field wiring and internal system circuitry, it significantly simplifies field wiring within the control cabinet and ensures extremely high real-time responsiveness for process industry control.
The most significant feature of the T9881 is its robust single-channel physical isolation and interference-resistant electrical characteristics. This terminal assembly employs a single-rack (simplex) independent channel isolation structure, providing high-level electrical isolation (up to 1500V DC) between channels and between channels and the main system. This comprehensive electrical isolation completely eliminates noise and common-mode interference caused by ground loops, ensuring that even if a strong current is introduced into the channel or an external short circuit occurs, the impact of the fault will be completely confined within the physical boundaries of that channel.
The T9881 ICS triplex Analog Output FTA Module may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The T9881 is a dedicated baseplate for physically supporting and housing active AADvance analog output modules (such as the T9481 or T9482). Although its terminal blocks are in a simplex configuration, its underlying AADvance platform components have undergone comprehensive evaluation and certification by TÜV Rheinland, meeting SIL 3 safety standards under the IEC 61508 protocol. Its industrial-grade package design can withstand harsh, critical environments such as oil and gas emergency shutdowns (ESD), petrochemical process monitoring, and heavy-duty boiler combustion management networks.
The T9881 employs multi-channel physical signal unidirectional routing and precise field loop conditioning technology. Throughout the control loop, the T9482 analog output module, mounted on the backplane, first converts the controller's digital signals into weak analog electrical signals.
These signals are then input to the printed circuit board (PCB) of the T9881 terminal assembly via physical connectors. The T9881's internal circuitry uses dedicated physical isolation transformers or optocouplers to safely transmit power and signals through a 1500V insulating strip without physical contact. Its outputs feature built-in precision passive filters to eliminate high-frequency noise.
Finally, each channel precisely supplies a clean, isolated 4–20mA current to its respective valve positioner via a shared common reference ground, enabling uninterrupted continuous control in process industries.
