Architecture & System Integration
Features:
- 24 V DC main system input used to power the controller and active output loops
- 25-pin D-sub plug configured to receive synchronous signals from an absolute angle shaft encoder
- Standard RS-232 serial link used to communicate with programming software or hardware terminal accessories
This equipment is primarily used in automated production lines to replace traditional mechanical camshaft structures. Its design aims to achieve precise switching control highly synchronized with the physical position of the rotating shaft. It is widely used in packaging machinery, textile equipment, printing presses, and other automated units requiring high-speed, discrete triggering based on mechanical shaft angles.
The 176.022.16 hardware configuration features excellent dynamic compensation capabilities, supporting dead-time compensation and high-precision speed scaling. This effectively offsets the physical and mechanical delays of downstream solenoid valves or actuators, ensuring that the unit maintains microsecond-level motion synchronization at different operating speeds.
The KUAX671 671.022.16 Kuhnke Electronic cam control unit may still be available for purchase and support from Moore Automated Company beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The suffix of the part number clearly indicates the terminal capacity of the built-in control module:
671.022.16 (this model): Equipped with 16 integrated digital output channels.
671.022.32: An expansion module equipped with 32 integrated digital output channels.
The KUAX 671 controller separates the main logic control base from the programming unit. This module is mounted directly on a DIN rail within the machine control cabinet and is programmed and calibrated using external devices:
Handheld Programming: Configuration is completed at the factory using a portable Kuhnke KUAX 671 PG handheld terminal (part number: 674.001.00).
PC Software Calibration: Programming can also be performed using a desktop computer running the legacy Kuhnke NOBES 674 configuration software.
